Festival of Light and the Aixada Fair

A medieval celebration with the Transèquia walk and the Aixada Fair.

Fira aixada

The Festivals of Light and the Aixada Fair are an emblematic event that transports attendees to medieval Manresa in the 14th century. The popular Transèquia walk, which runs along the medieval Sèquia canal from Balsareny to Manresa, is one of the most outstanding activities, recalling the importance of this water system. At the same time, the Fira de l'Aixada recreates a medieval market full of trades, performances and handicrafts, which transport visitors to another era. All this is done in memory of the miracle that occurred in 1345, when a light coming from Montserrat resolved a conflict that had interrupted the construction of the Sèquia de Manresa. A set of events that celebrate the history, culture and identity of the city.
